Domain names are bought in the client’s name for periods of 2 years. If the domain does not get renewed after 2 years you lose the ownership of the domain. We organise the renewal of the domain.
Owning a domain name does not give you web hosting or email accounts though you can have email forwarding.
- .co.uk domains – £40 for 2 years
- .com etc.. – £45 for 2 years
We offer 2 levels of hosting. Hosting gives you webspace and email accounts.
- Shared hosting – £100pa
Nearly unlimited number of email accounts, bandwidth and webspace, anti-spam filters, webmail and much more.
Downtime – no host can ever guarantee no downtime. If the FBI can go down then any site can. We use Heart Internet for our shared hosting who are really good. They deliver 24/7 UK support 365 days a year. Downtime is rarely more than a couple of hours a year.
The ‘nearly unlimited’ means that it is very unlikely that you will reach that limit. The only time so far I have hit this limit is when a site gets too popular. That means in the area of 4 GB of bandwidth in an hour. For a normal site without offering big files for downloads means visitor levels in the tens of thousands. If that happens we move to a semi-dedicated hosting server.
- Semi-dedicated hosting – £250 to £500 depending on how many other sites you share the server with.
Offers the same as above but your site shares the server with only a few other sites – 4 or 5 maybe at most depending on server demands.
